We Want to Hear YOUR Stories

I'd love to have a few "guest bloggers" post to this blog. So, those of you who have AIS or perhaps a related condition, if you have something you'd like to say, please leave me a comment, or email zoech4ng@yahoomail.com. I would definitely like to hear from you, and I'm sure everyone else would too.

You can remain anonymous as you like. You can tell any story you like, or talk about any topic directly or tangentially related to living with AIS or any other DSD/intersex issue. Email me your story and I will post them here, along with whatever type of credit you like. If you prefer to use a pseudonym, that's totally acceptable too.

Looking forward to hearing from several of you I hope!!

Zoe

  1. I've got a 2 yr old daughter and she was diagnosed with CAIS recently. Both myself and husband were very upset. She's a perfectly healthy and active young girl. We're seeking Doctor's advice and undergoing some blood test. Eventually, we need to make a decision if we should remove the internal testes now or later (after her puberty). A later age would be difficult for her emotionally. But I'm afraid with the earlier removal(before puberty, she would not have a proper female development. Understood from the doctor one needs to take hormones medication with the removal of the internal testes. I'm just worried if the hormones medication would allow breast development later on during puberty? Afterall, she's a girl. It is unfortunate to lose the ability to get pregnant, at least i would want her to have a female body well developed. Do you have any personal advise?

  2. Hi there -- Personally speaking I'd advocate for leaving them in for her normal puberty. When the body makes what it needs, that's probably the best course. I can understand your concerns though and am definitely sympathetic to them. Would you like to chat about this? I am happy to provide you my personal email address and phone number (along with my real name).

I'd also direct you to the AISSG USA. There is a parents group with whom you can discuss this. But I would be delighted to speak with you about you directly! :)

  3. Hi Anonymous -- You can feel free to call and leave a message on my voicemail account:

This is my private voicemail account. If you'd like to leave a number or email address there, I will definitely get back to you with all my contact info. I am generally open about my AIS status, but don't use my real name on this public site for security reasons - that's all.

  4. Hi Zoe, thank you for replying. I'll email you at your email address above. It's comforting to have support group in your country on such concerns. Apparently not in my country.
